Curry at Panya Thai
I never would have stopped here. Good thing I left lunch up to my uber talented chef-friend, Benjamin Goldman. I said I was down for anything, and he completely blew it out of the park with Panya Thai.
It was very unassuming on the outside. When we walked in there was barely anyone in the restaurant. It was around 4 pm on a Monday... probably not the busiest time for most places anyways! I was worried, but Benjamin proved himself with this lunch choice.
We both love curry and spice, so we ordered Massaman Tofu, Veggie Curry and spicy Tom Ka Tofu. I usually find the need to make things spicier, but they knew how to do it juuuuust right. It was very spicy, but still had bold, sweet flavors!
Benjamin told me "don't judge a book by its cover", as we looked through the menu. I laughed to be polite, but honestly didn't expect this place to blow my mind the way it did! The food was amazing. Now I know how on point his statement was. The flavor of the food surpassed my expectations way more than I could've imagined from looking at their photos in their menu!
Without a doubt some of the best curry I have had in a long time. Definitely stop by and get some Massaman curry next time you are in Miami. And if you live near Miami, or on the beach, I promise you, all the way on NE 167th St., Panya Thai is worth the drive.
